MIR Alert Regarding No-Fault Policy Limit

October 28, 2021

On October 26, 2021, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) published a Non-Group Health Plan (NGHP) alert regarding the reporting of No-Fault Insurance Policy Limits. The alert can be found here, but in summary, CMS acknowledges that there are times when the No-Fault Insurance Policy Limit may vary due to state laws or policy terms. It is important to report the No-Fault Insurance Policy Limit with the dollar amount that is accepted at the time the claim is being reported. Furthermore, if the Policy Limit changes, then the new Policy Limit must be reported to CMS.

What this means to you:

When the Policy Limit changes on a claim, simply provide the updated amount to ECS in your normal process.  As always, the beauty of our system lies in the fact that you simply provide claim data and our system determines what, when and how to report your claims to CMS.

ECS will continue to closely monitor any Section 111 reporting changes and outline the critical context of those reporting changes to you.  Contact us today to learn more about how these changes may impact your claims process, or to learn more about our tailored Section 111 reporting solutions. Our Mandatory Insurer Reporting Team can be reached at MIRService.Support@examworkscompliance.com or 678-222-5454 to schedule an evaluation about your program today.
